Info | SKINNER, Harry, (brother of Thomas Gregory Skinner), a Representative from North Carolina; born near Hertford, Perquimans County, N.C., 5/25/1855; attended Hertford Academy and was graduated from the law department of the University of Kentucky at Lexington; was admitted to the bar in 1876 and commenced practice in Greenville, Pitt County, N.C.; member of the town council in 1878; member of Governor Jarvis’ staff and served as aide-de-camp 1879-1886; chairman of the Democratic executive committee of the First Congressional District 1880-1890; chairman of the Democratic executive committee of Pitt County 1880-1892; member of the State house of representatives in 1891 and 1892; chairman of the Populist executive committee of Pitt County 1892-1896; member of the State central committee 1892-1896; trustee of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill 1890-1896.
