Ms. Dandrow is a former state representative serving sixteen years in the Connecticut General Assembly. During this time, she served on the Public Health Committee, the Committee on Children, and the Judiciary Committee. Ms. Dandrow was co-chairman of the Program Review Committee, a Minority Leader, and President of the Order of Women Legislators. She also co-sponsored legislation creating the Office of Child Advocate. One of her many accomplishments was establishing a Huntington's Disease program that provides counseling, research, and support through UConn. Other legislation that she co-sponsored includes The Healthy Family, which is a program to prevent child abuse, the Safe Haven Program, the Birth to Three Program, and Newborn Hearing Sceening. Ms. Dandrow is the mother of four children, the youngest of whom is hearing impaired.
