Info | Joseph Wilson Range
J.W. Range was born on a farm in Crawford County, Pennsylvania, July 11, 1844, where he remained until the war broke out, when he enlisted in the Union Army, and was present at the surrender of Johnston at Greensboro. He was promoted to sergeant for gallantry, and was honorably discharged in 1865. On his return from the army Mr. Range took a course of study in the Waterford Academy, and came west to Iowa in 1868. In 1875 Mr. Range removed to Dayton, in this State. In 1881 he removed to Cheney, where he was Justice of the Peace for four years. He has resided in Seattle over five years and was a candidate for mayor of that city on the Prohibition ticket in the spring of 1892.
