Florida Treasurer and Insurance Commissioner (1971-June 1975), Dade County commissioner (District 4, 1964-1970)
Was indicted in October 1974 for extorting campaign contributions from the insurance companies he regulated, was re-elected next month but was impeached by the Florida House in 1975. As part of a plea deal taken in July 1975, he resigned his seat and the trial phase of the impeachment was not undertaken by the Senate.
Later served two years in federal prison after being convicted on two counts of extortion and 18 counts of mail fraud
