I was born on Miami Beach as a first generation delivery into an integrated hospital and raised in the vibrant Liberty City subdivision of Miami, Florida with four brothers in a two parent family. I graduated Miami Beach High and went on to study Physics and Mathematics at Florida A & M University as I followed my dreams to become a United States Navy Pilot.
Inspired by my Jamaican heritage father—a dedicated community advocate and hardworking union member and “Shop Steward” and my Bahamian heritage mother— a beautician that organized those ladies into a “get out to vote” powerhouse—I inherited a profound sense of diligence and commitment from a young age. This dedication was evident in my “attention to detail” related to academic and athletic pursuits. I excelled in my studies because I knew it was a privilege to be in college, knowing all well that the alternative to the library was a mop, working for Octavio at Toby’s Restaurant in Little Havana. Earning a place at Florida A&M University I loved being a Rattler every day then and every day now.
Notably, I have contributed significant software code and mathematical elements vital to national science and national security ranging from the Voyager 2 spacecraft to the TSA Passenger Screening System. Today I stop over $500,000,000,000 in Medicare Fraud Penalty each and every year. When elected I will make this pathway to education available to many more like me and stop significantly the fraud against Medicare and Medicaid, including calling to account, anyone that has taken a life long objective to kill these most vital programs.
