InfoRobert D. Barra resides in North Lynbrook and was elected to serve the 21st Assembly District in the fall of 2000. Assemblyman Barra represents the residents of Valley Stream, Lynbrook, Rockville Centre, South Hempstead and portions of Baldwin, Oceanside, East Rockaway, Malverne and North Lynbrook.

Before being elected, Assemblyman Barra served as a councilman in the town of Hempstead and was one of seven public officials in charge of the largest township in the United States. While a member of the Hempstead Town Board, Assemblyman Barra also served as district chief of staff to state Senator Dean Skelos, where his duties included managing the Senator's district office and acting as a liaison with various governmental agencies and elected officials.

Assemblyman Barra has also served as a Lynbrook Village Trustee and was the district director to former Nassau Congressman David Levy.

Assemblyman Barra holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication/Journalism from Hofstra University and is a graduate of Lynbrook High School. An active member of his community, Assemblyman Barra is a former member of the board of directors for the Nassau County Health Care Corporation; a former member of the St. Raymond School Board; an honorary member of the Lynbrook Fire Department, Tally-Ho Engine Co. #3; and a charter member of the Lynbrook Kiwanis Club.

Assemblyman Barra and his wife Celeste have two daughters, Alexandra and Erica.
