Info | I grew up about 30 miles south, in Belen. Meanwhile, my father drove city buses and retired from the City of Albuquerque’s transit department, commuting each day to work. His job meant we had a stable upbringing and our family had healthcare. I have deep respect for our city’s workers and all they do to keep our city running smoothly.
My father had a strong influence on me. Wherever he worked, he belonged to the union, often as the union steward. He believed in fighting for the collective good and for fair pay for a hard day’s work. It’s those values—of getting involved and advocating for change—that continues to inspire me.
It was my experience while serving in the military in Al-Jaber Kuwait and in environmental disaster zones that led me to a career in conservation. Today, I am a professional hydrologist, with education in technical hydrology and law. I’ve served on County, City, and nonprofit Boards promoting education and environmental stewardship.
In 2017, I was first elected to the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District (MRGCD) where I have advocated for conservation, fair water delivery to irrigators, and the protection of our Rio and the Bosque. In 2021, I worked with my neighbors to form the ABQCore Downtown neighborhood Association.
I am the father of two boys who attend Albuquerque Public Schools.
