Info | Lamond Daniels is a 30-year resident of Bridgeport, a husband, and a father to two who firmly believes that together, we can build a better city for everyone who calls Bridgeport home.
While this may be his first time running for public office, Lamond’s connections to Bridgeport run deep. Lamond’s dedication to his community started three decades ago when he moved to Bridgeport after high school – and never looked back. Inspired by his late grandmother who raised him, Lamond learned the core values of accountability to self and others and an all-around legacy of service.
At 19, Lamond started as an AmeriCorps member assigned to the East Side of Bridgeport- focusing on safety and after-school crime prevention programs. Working as a case manager for those affected by substance abuse, helping Brideporters get their lives back on track, he paid his way through college, earning a bachelor’s degree at the University of Bridgeport and earning two master’s degrees.
Lamond became a social worker and was promoted to manager, working for over a decade at the Annie E. Casey Foundation in Bridgeport. In his role, he supported Bridgeport children and families impacted by the state’s child welfare system and advised State governments on youth and family policies. He also organized and led a resident coalition to address community concerns in the North End. Later, Lamond served as Director of Neighborhood Initiatives under former Mayor Bill Finch.
Currently, he serves as Norwalk’s Chief of Community Services where he oversees the city’s departments of Health, Human Services, and Library, with a combined budget of $10 million and 100 employees. Lastly, he is an adjunct instructor at Housatonic Community College.
Lamond knows that the challenges facing our city have existed for decades, and resolving these problems demands a new path and new leadership. Each of us has a role to play. Lamond’s grandmother always said “if you believe in something strongly then go after it. Don't let anybody tell you what you should believe in.” He believes in Bridgeport, he sees its beauty, its diversity, and the opportunities we have to grow and thrive.
Lamond knows there are those who don't believe in our government, because too many times promises are broken, and the voices of the people are ignored. Lamond is running to restore people’s faith in our great city and its leaders, and to make sure that his kids - and all our kids - are able to grow, thrive, and build a brighter future for themselves here.
