Info | I was raised in Ripon, Wisconsin, familiar to many as the birthplace of the original abolitionist party, and spent more of my early life in academia than is strictly speaking good for anyone. I escaped from the '60s with a BA in French and German [Ripon College, 1965], an MA in Linguistics [Indiana, 1969], and an abiding distrust of government [LBJ, Nixon, and Senator Dodd].
I spent the early '70s teaching linguistics and Romance languages back at Ripon College, then left the ivory tower to work as marketing supervisor in an export company, traveling in Central America and learning first-hand what it means to have soldiers with machine guns on every corner.
Since 1979 I have made my living as a computer software analyst, moving from the Maryland suburbs of Washington DC to north Alabama in 1991 to work with Bechtel Power as Supervisor of Programming Support on the Browns Ferry project. Currently I am senior network analyst for a software company in Huntsville, living with my wife Annie, children Alexandra (5) and Joey (2), and three cats, in a house in the woods in Elkmont.
Annie founded the North Alabama ALS Support Group, and I help her publish the newsletter. I'm a Life Member of the NRA and attend the First Presbyterian Church in Athens. Hobbies used to be shooting, photography, and boating; now my time is taken up with Libertarian agitation and being Daddy.
