Info | Kenny was born and raised in Colorado to Vietnamese refugees from the Vietnam War. Kenny was the first in his family to complete an undergraduate degree. Kenny graduated with a double degree in Political Science and Communication from the University of Colorado Boulder. He is currently completing his Master of Public Administration from the University of Colorado Denver.
Professionally, Kenny has served as an AmeriCorps Service Member for the “I Have a Dream” Foundation at Boulder and as a community organizer for the Jared Polis for Governor campaign in 2018.
Kenny currently serves as the Executive Assistant to Colorado’s Lieutenant Governor, Dianne Primavera. Kenny is currently the Chair to the Broomfield Arts, History and Cultural Council and has been a member of the Board since 2020. Additionally, Kenny has been the Vice Chair to the Colorado Democratic Party Asian American Pacific Islander Initiative. Kenny has been an active member of Colorado’s anime and cosplay community. Kenny has used his social media platforms for fundraising such as streaming for 24 hours with Lafayette Mayor J.D. Mangat to fundraise money for victims of the Marshall Fire.
Kenny Nguyen, Lt. Governor Primavera’s Executive Assistant, is seeking elected office as the position of Broomfield City and County Ward 1. Kenny plans to announce his intentions to run at a February 2, 2023 meeting of the Broomfield Democrats. Elections will be held on November 7, 2023. If elected, Kenny’s term would begin in December of 2023.
Kenny is active in the Broomfield Democratic Party and believes he has a strong chance to win the seat. Kenny is currently the Secretary of the Broomfield Democrat Party and has served as the Chair of the Broomfield Boards and Arts Cultural Council since 2019. If elected, Kenny will be the first Asian American council member and will be the 3rd youngest elected to the City and County of Broomfield.
