Info | James P. "Jim" Durkin
Jim was fortunate to be born into a large Chicago family of eight boys and raised in suburban Westchester. After graduating from Fenwick High School, Jim attended Illinois State University and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. Following his undergraduate studies in Normal-Bloomington, Jim graduated from John Marshall Law School with his Juris Doctor.
Jim's interest in public service began as an intern with the Illinois Attorney General's office while he attended ISU. Later as a law student, Jim continued to serve as a legal intern for the Attorney General's office. Following graduation from John Marshall, Jim became an Assistant Attorney General and later an Assistant Cook County State's Attorney. As an Assistant State's Attorney, Jim specialized in complicated narcotics investigations and prosecutions. Currently, Jim is a practicing attorney with the law firm of Pretzel & Stouffer, Chartered.
Serving in the Offices of the Illinois Attorney General and the Cook County State's Attorney advanced Jim's dedication to public service. In January of 1995, Jim was fortunate to be appointed to represent the 44th Legislative District to fill the vacancy of Thomas J. Walsh. Jim is completing his fourth term in the Illinois House of Representatives.
