| Info | It's an honor to be your newest Seattle City Councilmember.
Seattle is my hometown and I have deep roots here. I grew up on Beacon Hill and spent my childhood working in my family's restaurant and bakery in Wallingford, U-District, Seattle Center and in the Chinatown International District. Today, my family and I operate a legacy restaurant and affordable housing complex. I deeply love Seattle and its diverse neighborhoods. I know these neighborhoods. I know the difference between Alki Beach, Pritchard Beach and Matthews Beach.
Seattle is a beautiful city with incredible resources. Regional leadership has failed on some basic commitments. People do not feel safe in their communities, and it's getting harder and harder to afford to live here which threatens our underserved communities most. Many in our immigrant, refugee and non-English speaking communities are the furthest away from services.
It's time to change that.
Seattle can make progress if leadership is hardworking, collaborative, and action-oriented. When South Seattle neighborhoods saw increasing crime, I organized community safety patrols. When I saw friends and neighbors being priced out, I worked to convert the historic Louisa Hotel into workforce housing. I've fought for government accountability, and I've administered Narcan to an unhoused neighbor suffering an overdose.
On City Council, I'm proud to bring hard work, common sense, and a belief that Seattle's progressive values demand real progress.
