| Info | As a sixth generation Texan who was born and raised in District 121, Representative Elizabeth Ames Jones was elected in 2000 to represent the diverse residents of northeastern Bexar County.
Representative Jones graduated from Alamo Heights High School and earned a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. She is married to Will C. Jones IV, an attorney in San Antonio, and is the mother of two teenage children. They are active members of Christ Episcopal Church in San Antonio.
Building on that background of community service, Representative Jones�s key legislative issues are education and health care reforms, as well as the promotion of economic development and responsible growth in her fast-growing district. .
In the 78th Legislative Session, Representative Jones� committee assignments include the Committee on Appropriations, Committee on Energy Resources, for which she serves as Chairman of Budget and Oversight, and Local and Consent Calendars. Also, Representative Jones was elected by her colleagues to the leadership position of Vice Chair for the Texas House of Representatives Republican Caucus.
In 2001, San Antonio Police Officers Association recognized Representative Jones for her "Outstanding Contribution to Law Enforcement," and she received the "Improving the Lives of Peace Officers and their Families Award" from the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas.
She also received a "Fighter for Free Enterprise" award from the Texas Association of Business and has been recognized by a variety of local associations, including the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, for her dedication and service during the 77th Legislative session.
