| Info | State Senator Don Cravins, Jr. attended high school at Teurlings Catholic High School where he graduated with honors in 1990. Upon graduation, Don attended LSU in Baton Rouge where he served as the Vice President of the Student Government Association, was a founder and first Chairman of the African American Cultural Center and was an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from LSU in 1994, Don decided to venture off to law school. In 1995, Don enrolled at the Southern University Law Center and while there, he was on the Moot Court Board, an Editor of the Southern University Law Review and served as the President of the Student Body. Don graduated 5th in his class in 1998.
Upon graduation from the Law Center, Don married Attorney Yvette Puckett Cravins and they are the proud parents of two children, Dominique Claire (7 years old) and Donald "Trey" Cravins, III (5 years old). They reside in Opelousas.
Currently, Don is a practicing attorney with the Law Offices of Domengeaux Wright Roy & Edwards in Lafayette. In 2004, at the age of 32, Don was elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives for District 40. When Don was elected, he and his father made Louisiana history as the first father and son duo to serve in the Louisiana Legislature at the same time. In 2006, Don was elected State Senator for District 24 which is comprised of St. Landry and Lafayette Parishes. Don is a Board member of the St. Landry/Evangeline United Way and of 232-HELP and an active reserve officer with the Opelousas Police Department.
