Info | Kathleen Galante and her seven siblings grew up in a working-class neighborhood in Central New Jersey, where their parents taught them the values of volunteering in the community and helping others. After the attacks on September 11, Kathleen became a special education teacher’s aide because the local school system was short-staffed. After Hurricanes Sandy and Ike, Kathleen and her friends spent countless days volunteering to help the cleanup process.
Kathleen was a successful small business owner and caterer for over 20 years before retirement. A lifelong passion for cooking and culinary arts, Kathleen obtained degrees from San Francisco Community College and the French Culinary Institute in New York City. Now, she volunteers her time to support food security and sustainable agriculture. Kathleen has worked with local farmers, schools, and food banks to promote healthy eating in disadvantaged communities. She has also promoted sustainable, environmentally-friendly farming in order to support Atlantic County’s agriculture economy.. Kathleen has organized farmers’ markets and volunteered her time to teach cooking in public schools. Through these efforts, Kathleen wants to make Atlantic County greener, healthier, and sustainable.
As your County Commissioner, Kathleen will be a robust advocate for voting rights, combating the negative effects of climate change, and protecting a woman's right to choose.
Kathleen lives in Brigantine with her partner, Philip Pepe. She has three children and two grandchildren.
