Jean-Marc is the current Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Economic Development and Trade and the Minister of Small Business and Entrepreneurship. He is also the Chair of the Small Business Agency of Ontario, a member of the Standing Committee on General Government, as well of two Cabinet Committees.

Prior to provincial politics, he served in municipal government for 25 years, including 15 years as mayor of the Town of Rockland. Jean-Marc was Director and member of the Development Committee of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) for 11 years. He served as Vice-President and Charter Member of the Association for Francophone Municipalities of Ontario (AFMO), and president of an international conference in Africa in 1991.

Jean-Marc had a 34-year career with the federal government and was manager of the Canadian Government Printing Bureau, which is today known as Group Communication Canada.

He is also the President of the Ontario section of the Association of Francophone Parliamentarians and served as Head of Missions for the Americas. He is the author of the Franco-Ontarian Emblem Act of 2001 that officially recognizes the Franco-Ontarian flag as the emblem of the Ontario French-speaking community. He was recently awarded with the Legion of Honour Medal from the French President for his implication with francophone issues at home and abroad.

As a passionate hockey fan, Jean-Marc is past President (1975-76) of the Ottawa & District Hockey Association, past Director (1972-76) of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association, and former partner of the hockey team, Les Olympiques de Hull.
