InfoBill Murdoch is currently MPP for Bruce Grey-Owen Sound and Rural Affairs Critic for the Official Opposition. He has been re-nominated as the PC Party Candidate for this riding in the coming General Election, October 2007.

Bill was elected to the Ontario Legislature in September 1990, as the Member of Provincial Parliament for Grey. He was re-elected in June 1995 for a second term, this time as the member for Grey-Owen Sound. After winning his third term in 1999, Bill was appointed Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Northern Development and Mines, serving as the member for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound. Bill was appointed Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Labour in 2001, and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Environment and Energy in 2002.

Bill is currently serving his fourth term as the member for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, after winning his fourth straight election in that riding in October 2003.

He has been the Municipal Affairs and Transportation Critic, Deputy Agricultural Critic, as well as serving on numerous committees over the past 15 years, namely Regulations and Private Bills, Resources Development, Public Accounts, and Committee on the Ombudsman.

Bill was born and raised in Sydenham Township, attending school there and in Owen Sound.

While formerly involved in industry, he now operates his family's cow/calf operation near Bognor.

Bill has been active in municipal politics, serving as the Reeve and Councillor for Sydenham Township for 12 years. He was Warden of Grey County in 1987. He is a former member of the Planning, Tourism and Agriculture Committee, and former Chairman of several organizations including the Grey County Planning and Advisory Committee, the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority, and the Joint Board of Management for the Inter-Township Fire Department. Bill was also a past secretary-treasurer of the Grey Bruce Tourist Association.

He has served as a vice-president of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.

Active in his community, Bill is a member of the Sydenham Sportsmen's Association, Bruce Peninsula Sportsmen's Association, Ontario Cattlemen Association, the Royal Canadian Legion, the Ontario Federation of Agriculture, Ducks Unlimited, North Star Masonic Lodge, Ramoca Shrine Club, Crescent Club, Old Blades Club, Scenic City Order of Good Cheer, and is producer of Bognor Jam Productions.

He and his wife, Susan, have two daughters, Karen and Angie.
