Info | Community service has always been a big part of life for Dr. Kuldip Kular, who was elected to represent the Bramalea-Gore-Malton-Springdale riding in October 2003. He was appointed Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration in October 2003, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister Responsible for Democratic Renewal in September 2004, and in March 2006, he was named Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care.
Kuldip currently serves on the Standing Committee on Social Policy, as well as the Cabinet committee for Community Affairs Policy. In July 2005, Kuldip had the honour of being been appointed to the multi-party Select Committee on Electoral Reform, which studied other democratic electoral systems in Germany, Scotland and Ireland.
Kuldip immigrated to Canada from India in 1974. He obtained his medical degree from Guru Nanak Dev University before coming to Canada and doing two years of residency training in Halifax. Kuldip worked in the Canadian Armed Forces Hospital in Halifax before moving to New Brunswick where he spent eight years in family practice. He moved to Brampton in 1986 where he ran a successful family and sports medicine clinic.
Kuldip has been a long-standing member of the Canadian Medical Association and the Ontario Medical Association. As well, he is one of the founding and life members of the Northern Indian Medical and Dental Association of Canada.
From raising money for important local causes like the United Way and the William Osler Foundation to donating medical services at community sports events and organizing seminars on Canadian healthcare for new immigrants, Kuldip has worked hard with his neighbours to make a difference in Brampton. His efforts have been recognized through certificates of outstanding community service from the Government of Ontario, the Governor General of Canada, and from the Can-Sikh Association.
Kuldip and his wife, Jessie, have raised their four children in Brampton.
