InfoI was born in Spokane and raised in the Spokane Valley by my parents Don and Helen Hattenburg along with four brothers and three sisters. While attending Central Valley High School I held various jobs and helped coach Special Olympics at Lakeland Village. After graduating in 1971 I went on to attend SFCC receiving my AA Degree. I then went to WSU and received a BA in Education in 1975.

While in school I met my wife of 30 years, Becky. Putting my education degree to work, I taught history and social studies at North Pines Junior High as well as being the Athletic Director. In my first year I was also the Gun Club Advisor. In addition to my teaching responsibilities I coached boys and girls basketball, track and boys football. Later on I was Department Chair and acting Administrator when necessary. I was named North Pines Teacher of the Year in 1976 and nominated for the Washington State Teacher of the Year in 1990.

During this time I also completed two years of postgraduate work at EWU, Whitworth and Gonzaga as well a raising three children: Bobby, Justin and Erica.

Upon retirement, I became actively involved in the Spokane County Democratic Party where I have worked on various campaigns and fundraisers. I have held positions such as Vice-chair of the 4th District, Spokane County Committeeman and President of the Magnuson Club. I have had the honor of being chosen 5th Congressional Presidential Elector 2000, Spokane Democratic Man of the Year 1999 and Magnuson Award State Committeeman of the Year 2001.

Now, with three grown children, I have decided now it's time to repay our great community by offering my knowledge, leadership skills and work ethic in the Washington State Senate. The time is now for electing a person who cares, will listen, and take action.
