InfoAs the mother of four grown children including one adopted through the New Mexico foster system, and in my role as a special education teacher and teacher of gifted students for 17 years, I have personally experienced the struggle of educating students as well as the failure of CYFD to protect New Mexican children.

I believe a good education and better schools are the foundation of building healthy communities with less crime, more quality jobs, and a better way of life for all of us. Since I've retired as a schoolteacher, I am ready to advocate for students, give parents back their rights, and give teachers the support they deserve.

I have the credentials and the experience to represent the people of District 53. I’ve earned my Master's Degree in Education. I’ve gained experience working with people of all backgrounds while traveling the world as an Air Force wife for 22 years. My time in the school system and my years of community service have prepared me to listen and to give the people of Southern New Mexico a voice in Santa Fe.

My opponent Willie Madrid hasn’t done a lot in his time in office— he neglected to protect families or create new jobs. He’s done even less in the last year, not bothering to vote for the issues that matter to our district, like funding for rural broadband or supporting foster families with free cultural programs. And when it came to protecting parents’ rights, Willie failed to show up.

Since Willie Madrid has been in office, Southwest New Mexico families have been overlooked and ignored by Santa Fe politicians. At some point we have to ask ourselves, where is the guy who is supposed to represent us? Why doesn’t he speak up? Experience doesn’t count unless you put it to work for the people who are counting on you.

I have the experience. I’m willing to put in the work. I am ready to fight for the interests of OUR district and put families first as your State Representative!
