Info | I'm a wife, a stepmother, a grandmother, a foster mother, and a godmother. I’m a daughter, a sister and a friend. More importantly, I am a child of God grateful the Grace I've been given.
I'm a multi-generational native and life long resident of Western North Carolina. I was born in Cherokee County and raised in Graham County. My parents are Bill and Maeburl Tincher. My father was a truck driver (Go Canada! #freedomconvoy!) from Charleston West Virginia and my mother is a prayer warrior, entrapaenure and home maker from Graham County. She was widowed at the age of 42 and raised four children as a single mother. I’m eternally grateful for her prayers.
For high school, I attended a small boarding school in southern Virginia called Oak Hill Academy.
This was made possible by a trust established for me following a fatal on the job accident that involved my dad.
I graduated from Oak Hill in 1988 and moved to Asheville that same year. In 1997, I obtained a bachelor's in social work from Mars Hill College, with a focusing on family systems and early childhood development.
In 1999 I completed my master’s in social work from University of South Carolina.
I have spent the last 28 years working with individuals, families and communities in crisis, addressing root issues such as poverty, child abuse, domestic violence, addiction and personality disorders.
I've worked and volunteered in multiple human service settings including private non-profits, community based mental health agencies and government bureaucracies.
for the past 17 years I ran a counseling and consultation company. I have written, implemented and managed highly successful treatment programs that made significant impacts on the well being of families and communities.
Prior to COVID I worked in partnership with Grace Extended Ministries in Robbinsville to prevent fatal overdoses, reduce homelessness and the spread of Hep C and HIV. I understand first hand the pain of grief and loss associated with addiction and trauma. Over the past 13 years I have also two brothers to addiction related struggles.
Sluder attended the 1/6/2021 Trump rally in Washington DC but was not one of the people who went into the Capitol.
