| Info | My path to politics wasn’t like most others – I was born on an 80-acre pig farm south of Decatur.
Later, my family moved to Camp Mack where my dad was the head caretaker, my mom was the head cook, and I roamed through nature. There, I learned the importance of hard work and found my passion for protecting the land that sustains us.
I’m a lifelong Hoosier – I graduated from Goshen’s Bethany Christian High School, then earned a B.A. in sociology at Goshen College. I moved down to Bloomington to pursue my Masters in Outdoor Resources Management, with an emphasis in environmental education so I can champion environmental causes to protect our future generations.
Since then, I’ve been lucky to see the world from all kinds of angles. I’ve sailed the South Pacific and gardened at an Irish castle, but at the end of the day, all roads lead back to home in Goshen, Indiana. I have taught at Goshen College’s Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center and today I’m a high school science teacher. Between all of that, I’ve gotten married and had two sons whom I’ve raised right here in northern Indiana.
Now, I’m running for Congress to represent all constituents in each of the 11 counties in Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District.
We’ve all watched Republicans become more and more radical while representing fewer and fewer constituents’ interests. District 2 needs a leader who understands what Hoosier families and communities are going through in these difficult times. We don’t need more excuses on both sides of the aisle, we need leaders who will deliver on good-paying jobs, affordable health care, and effective policies to protect our environment.
When I decided to run for Congress, I thought about my own upbringing in northern Indiana. From the pig farm, I called home, to the parks and the rivers where I first learned the importance of leaving a better/cleaner world for the next generation. Much has changed over the years, but Hoosiers remain honest, respectful, and hardworking. Now, it’s time for our leaders to reflect those ideals.
