Info | David Boyd attended public schools in Fairview (Burton Ettenger Elementary, Clayton Park Jr. High, and Halifax-West High) then attended the Nova Scotia Community Collage (NSCC) I.W. Akerley & Bell Road Campuses where he took computer skills and computer service technician CST courses.
David Boyd has been involved in the ownership and management of companies in the wholesale distribution, direct marketing, computer, and taxi industries. He founded DBC Computers (1987-1990) hardware and software sales, which later became DFB Computers & Internet (1990-1992). He then became Sales Manager (1992-2000) with Horizon Marketing in Dartmouth. He has also worked as a security officer with Pinkerton's Of Canada (2000-01) and is presently a sales/operations manager for Romac Holdings and Developments Ltd. in Halifax.
David has been politically active all his life, starting as a child in the '80s knocking on doors with candidates in his riding, and has served as poll clerk and deputy returning officer in every provincial and federal election since he was 19. David has bean a active board member for the Conservative party, where he held the positions of youth team leader, university and college promotions officer, tactical-strategic planner, elections readiness officer, fund-raising chair, business relations officer, poll captain, telephone campaign supervisor, publication designer, Web master, campaign manager, official agent, and media relations liaison.
David ran in the municipal 1999 by-election and 2000 general election for District 19 Upper Sackville-Beaver Bank.
David as served as a member of the Metro Immigration Relations Committee, the Halifax Refugee Housing Assistance Commission, the Senior Housing Review Committee, the Sackville Lake Development Review Board, and the Nova Scotia Computer Literacy & Education Commission, among others. He has lobbied in favor of the HRM blue bag recycling, green cart, and beverage re-cycling programs, he supported a ban on pesticides, and has worked to address low income (wages and inflation, housing, healthcare) issues.
