InfoDeborah Berger has the breadth of experience to be our next City Attorney.

Deborah Berger is a 18 year veteran deputy City Attorney who advises the Mayor and City Council on major public works projects such as the Convention Center expansion, the new Ballpark, and complex projects related to telecommunications, energy, wastewater, waste management, and water utility matters.

Deborah successfully pursued a lawsuit against a local company that attempted to defraud the City, and recovered significant dollars for our community. She worked on the City's opposition to the Edison take-over of SDG&E, ensuring that this Fortune 500 Company would stay in San Diego, continuing to generate good jobs and tax revenues.

Deborah was the tough and skillful negotiator who was instrumental in obligating utilities to complete more than $400 million in additional undergrounding of utility lines.

A Judge Pro Term in the San Diego Superior Court, Deborah is also an Inns of Court Instructor and a member of the San Diego County Bar Association.

In addition to her work as an attorney, Deborah was a bilingual teacher in the South Bay School District from 1977 to 1985. She is active in her community and serves on many boards and committees, including the Executive Advisory Committee of the United Way and the Downtown YWCA Board of Directors. Deborah is a member of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Sierra Club, MANA and the League of Women Voters.

Never one to shrink from a challenge, Deborah will tackle the tough issues facing the City today. She is committed to putting honesty and integrity first as City Attorney.

Deborah grew up in Coronado and lives in downtown San Diego.
