InfoKen Nicol�s roots in the agriculture industry run deep. He was born on May 3, 1944 and was raised on the family dairy farm. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science degree (Agriculture) and a Master of Science degree (Agricultural Economics). He also graduated from Iowa State University with a PhD in Economics.

Dr. Nicol�s private-sector career included positions such as Associate Professor of Agricultural Management at the University of Lethbridge, President of Nicol Management Services Ltd., Director of the Center for Aboriginal Management Education, Advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture (Royal Thai Government), and Consultant to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Dr. Nicol was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in 1993. On March 12, 2001, he was elected to his third term as an M.L.A. and was subsequently appointed Leader of the Official Opposition in Alberta. In addition to his role as an MLA and Leader, Dr. Nicol served as Critic Responsible for Finance, Critic Responsible for Revenue, and Critic Responsible for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development.

Dr. Nicol is an active member of his community. He has served as a member of the City of Lethbridge�s Agriculture Committee, the Southern Alberta Water Management Committee, and the Lethbridge Big Brothers Association.

Dr. Nicol lives in Lethbridge with his wife Linda.
