Info | Raphaël is Executive Director of SEDRA, a non-governmental organization whose mandate is to “help African Internally Displaced persons help themselves.” SEDRA stands for Sustainable Eco-Development in Rural Africa; more information at www.sedra.ca
He holds a Masters degree in Environmental Science from the University of Calgary, and worked extensively as a Sustainable Agriculture consultant for much of the 1990's.
Prior to this, he obtained a Masters degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Western Ontario, which led to a Records Manager position with the Ministry of Environment, in Edmonton, Alberta.
Aside from his academic and work accomplishments, Raphaël has been an active volunteer in numerous associations, with mandates related to professional development, minority rights and environmental issues.
As International Secretary of the Green Party of Canada from 2000 to 2002, he attended the first Global Greens Summit in Canberra, where representatives of 72 national green parties unanimously approved the Global Greens Charter ([Link]
More recently, he co-organized a campaign with members of Ottawa-Vanier Greens to help ensure that the City of Ottawa approve the construction of a pedestrian bridge across Rideau Canal in its 2005 budget.
Raphaël Thierrin lives in the riding of Ottawa-Vanier.
