Info | Regina was born and raised in Louisville Colorado. Her childhood was spent surrounded by generations of family. One of her Grandfathers immigrated to America and along with her Great Uncles were coal miners in the Louisville area. Once mining subsided, they worked in her Great Uncles’ meat packing house in Denver. Her other Grandfather was a World War II paratrooper. After serving his country, he worked for the US Postal Service. When visiting, Regina and her cousins would stand at attention while her grandfather raised and lowered the United States flag. Respect for our country and our flag was something learned from an Immigrant and a Veteran.
Regina grew up with few material things but was blessed with heritage that raised her to know that she could be anything she wanted. While in eighth grade, she was fingerprinted during class by a detective from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. It was then and there that she decided to become a Sheriff’s Deputy. She never looked back.
Regina graduated from Centaurus High School, lettering in three sports and recording a history of being both Sophomore and Senior class President, during her tenure. She competed and placed second in Voice of Democracy sponsored by the local VFW. She competed and earned the right to attend Girl’s State, sponsored by the local American Legion. As a note, Regina became the “Sheriff” of the community formed during Girl’s State in 1981. Regina was also recognized by the local Rotary Club as the female Student of the Year 1982.
While attending the University of Northern Colorado she studied Criminology with an emphasis in Criminal Justice. She was recruited by the UNC tennis team and later was asked to walk on and made the UNC Volleyball team. After her Sophomore year, Regina transferred to Arizona State University where she studied Criminal Justice. She put herself through college working as the Assistant Manager, Lifeguard and Swim Instructor at a local swimming pool.
In 1986 Regina returned home and became a Deputy with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. She later finished her bachelor’s degree at Metro State University in Denver, graduating Summa Cum Laude and earned Alpha Phi Sigma, Criminal Justice Honor Society. She has completed course work for the MBA program at American Military University.
In addition to being a native Coloradan, Regina and her husband Bart live in Jefferson County and enjoy spending time with their two dogs and extended families. They like to travel to visit family, cooking for others and enjoy ballroom dancing lessons weekly, where they improve their skills on the dance floor. Regina and Bart have been the primary care givers of Regina’s mother for several years and treasure the time spent with her.
