| Info | Born and raised in Oakville, David Januczkowski attended Sheridan College and graduated with a Diploma in Business Administration before obtaining a Bachelor of Administration degree from Lakehead University with a major in accounting. Upon attaining his designation as a Certified Management Accountant in 1990, David has held a variety of positions in financial management, most recently as the Controller for a manufacturer in the auto parts sector.
David’s concern over resource depletion and pollution led him to build an energy efficient home in Flamborough in the early 1990’s that features extra insulation, advanced windows and doors, careful air sealing and high efficiency heating, cooling and lighting systems. His life long appreciation and respect for the balance of life and natural ecosystems has encouraged him to use natural and organic gardening practices. His disillusionment with the mainstream political parties was prompted by their lack of long term planning and innovation, their focus on politics rather than progressive policy development and their inability to create a sustainable economy in spite of decades of opportunity. His political journey of discovery led to the Green Party platform that promotes such key values as sustainability, ecological wisdom, social justice, community-based economics, non-violence and grassroots democracy. David liked the Green Party strategy of preventing problems from developing in the first place by a thoughtful, proactive approach to issues like disease prevention and early childhood education while using a full costing approach to such issues as air and water pollution. As an accountant, he supports the Green Party proposal to shift taxes away from incomes and onto our utilization of land and other non-renewable resources to promote more efficient and effective use of these assets.
David resides in Freelton with his wife Teresa and seven year old son. He has been involved with a local ratepayers association as well as a wind power cooperative and has been active with the local district of the Society of Management Accountants as a chairperson and director for close to twenty years. David was instrumental in the formation of the local Green Party of Canada Electoral District Association and ran as a candidate for the party in the 2004 federal election.
