InfoA native son of Saint Boniface, Manitoba, Brian Gibb has been a resident of the region for the last ten years. Having graduated from the University of Manitoba with a B.A. in psychology, he then went on to do graduate work, studying English literature, but opted to write a treatise on systems of governance entitled, "The End of the Canadian Empire and the Rise of the Intelligent Network", a decision that would inevitably bring him into politics.

Leaving Manitoba for Quebec, Mr. Gibb has taught English as a second language at various institutions throughout Quebec and is presently employed by the school division Des Draveurs, in Gatineau, where he teaches at one of the local high schools. He is the father of two sons, Gabriel and Bertrand, and shares his life with his life partner, Sandra Beauchamp.

Having become very familiar with the limitations of closed systems, Mr. Gibb set out to open up the political system in Canada and in Quebec to the meaningful participation of its citizens. Specifically, he has devoted a great deal of time to changing the voting system, knowing full well that until each and every vote counts, the majority of citizens will not be able to participate meaningfully in the political process. To that end, he has served as a member of the national board of Fair Vote Canada and the administrative board of the Mouvement pour une démocratie nouvelle. Most recently, his is one of the co-founders of L’Association pour la revendication des droits démocratiques, an organization which has taken the Quebec government to court over the constitutional validity of its voting system.

His recent decision to become a candidate for the Green Party of Canada is a continuation of his work to confront the outdated ways of thinking that have governed this country for far too long. According to Mr. Gibb, "the Green Party has seized upon the essential problems facing Canadians today, and proposes viable solutions that are centered on the well being of the majority of Canadians over the long term".
