InfoJudy Higginbotham is the longest-serving current councillor for the City of Surrey, and wants to put those two decades worth of political experience to work in Ottawa.

After a 10-year teaching career, her keen interest in current affairs and problem solving landed her a seat on Surrey City Council in 1983, where she has served this burgeoning City ever since.

She has served on several committees in the City of Surrey including the Transportation, Tourism Advisory, Heritage, Audit, Festival and Event, and Police committees. She currently holds the Tourism and Community Affairs portfolio.

Other political accomplishments include serving on the Greater Vancouver Regional District as a Director and chairing the Regional Parks Committee, and co-chairing the FCM’s Urban Safety Committee and establishing the Crime Prevention Centre.

Ms. Higginbotham volunteers at the Cloverdale Rodeo, Vancouver Jazz Festival and Canada Cup. In 1996, she received the “Woman of the Year” from the Surrey Business and Professional Women's Association and she received a national award for her work in Crime Prevention.

Ms. Higginbotham completed a B.Ed. degree at UBC. She and her husband Pat have two grown children, Karen and B.J.
