InfoBorn in Manhattan, Maud lived in Mitchell Lama housing with her mom who was a pediatric nurse at Lenox Hill Hospital. Eventually their family grew and Maud’s parents raised four children in Pennsylvania. She returned to NYC to go to college, earning a BA at Barnard College, and a JD at Cardozo Law School.

Maud then began her law career as a public defender at the largest public defense agency in NYC where she worked for over two decades. As a staff attorney in Manhattan and the Bronx she has represented thousands of New Yorkers in criminal court. She also worked as Director of Training for newly hired attorneys, and as a Clinical Professor at the Cardozo Law School where she taught third year law students. She has years of experience as a practitioner and as a teacher with a successful track record representing her clients. Maud knows how to stand up for others and make sure their voices are heard; their rights are protected; and their needs are met.

With husband, Juan Pablo, who is an immigrant and new American citizen, Maud is raising their four children in lower Manhattan. Three sons and a daughter, ages 14, 13, 11 and 4 keep them busy! Their children attend public school and both Maud and Juan are highly engaged parents who serve on the School Leadership Teams of their children’s schools.

Also elected to the Community Education Council, Maud is proud to be on the team that secured $2.6 million for an innovative, data-driven integration proposal for the district. Maud championed and helped establish the first Universal Pre-K Dual Language program in the district. Maud also served on the Greenwich Village Little League Board, and Community Board 2 for five years.
