InfoKris Stevenson has always taken the wellbeing of his family and community to heart. Born and raised in a working-class family in Selkirk, Kris started his life-long devotion to community at the age of twelve by volunteering as a Handy Helper in a seniors centre. Since then he has dedicated more than half his life to youth, sports, and community initiatives throughout Selkirk, St. James and North Winnipeg.

Kris graduated from the Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive High School in 1996. He continued his community involvement by working with children and adolescents through Oshkabewis Wakiagun Aboriginal Headstart, the Selkirk Friendship Centre, Manitoba Child and Family Services, and the St. James Assiniboia School Division. He also worked for the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs as a Communications Assistant prior to attending the University of Winnipeg to work towards a degree in education.

Kris has been active in sports both as a player and as a coach. He had an illustrious career with the North Winnipeg Nomads football team and coached youth hockey and football.

Kris has lived in North Winnipeg for more than four years. In the spring of 2003 Kris and his wife Patricia became the proud parents of Donovan Gerard. Together they proudly call the Maples district of North Winnipeg their home.
