InfoBorn in Pakistan, Taiba immigrated to the USA when she was a teen, a place she is proud to call home. Her children were born and raised here in Pennsylvania. Taiba knows first hand the problems facing our communities. In 2010 Taiba moved to Easton while escaping an abusive relationship, but she and her children found themselves homeless. Taiba worked hard to get her and her children into a shelter, and then was able to gain access to public housing. Her personal life experience shaped her to be an activist, a voice for the voiceless, and to get involved in politics. Before running for office, she worked as substitute educator in Phillipsburg School district, was a Civic Engagement Assistance in Northampton Community College and served as a member of Pennsylvania Board of Education. Taiba Sultana is the Council Member for Easton’s 3rd district in the Easton City Council.

Taiba attended Northampton Community College majoring in political science. She go to East Stroudsburg University concentrating in Pre-Law.

An experienced organizer and social issues advocate, she was sworn into office in January 2021, making her the first immigrant to become a Member of Council, the first woman of color to represent Easton, and first Muslim-American woman elected to Council.

Taiba is committed to fighting for the shared values that put people at the center of our democracy. She focus on tackling many of the issues that she hears about most from her constituents, like investing in affordable housing and community policing; ensuring a fair wage for a hard day's work; creating a just economic system and tackling the in-discrimination against Black and Brown communities. She has been a voice for working families, and a champion for reproductive rights and gender and racial equity. She is a tireless advocate for workers’ rights, unions, the right to organize, and for a better living wage.

She worked as Regional organizing Director with New Pennsylvania Project, leading voter mobilization efforts through Pennsylvania.

Taiba resists attempts to divide us and push destructive policies that chip away at our rights and freedoms—and to build a more inclusive and compassionate culture.

She Chairs the Planning and Code Committee as well as serves on the Public Safety Committee.

She is a member of the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission and Vice President of HOME, a newly created organization to promote affordable housing.

Now, Taiba is running for Pennsylvania State Representatives in District-136 to deliver real power for our communities, and real progress towards economic, racial, and environmental justice. If elected, she would again make history as the first woman ever to be elected and the first person of color ever elected to District 136 from Pennsylvania. She is running a people-powered campaign to build a brighter future where all working people can thrive.
