Info | Steve was born and raised on a dairy farm in the Musquodoboit Valley where his family has been established for more than 150 years; Steve Streatch knows the value of hard work and commitment. With a keen entrepreneurial spirit Steve has been involved with the multi-generational family business for many years. During his school years he also initiated several small business ventures. After graduating from Musquodoboit Rural High School he attended community college in Truro and soon entered the family business on a full time basis.
He is active in the agricultural and telecommunications sectors and is the Vice President of Sunberry Cranberry Farms Limited. He also continues his position as President of Streatch Communications Inc. providing cable television service to the residents of the eastern portion of HRM.
In 1999, shortly after the amalgamation of the Halifax Regional Municipality Steve Streatch saw inequities and with a desire to provide better opportunities for the people around him he allowed his name to stand for election to Halifax Regional Council where he has been twice elected. By gaining the respect of his council colleagues, he was elected to the position of Deputy Mayor in 2003, the youngest member of council to hold that position.

As a family man and father of five, Steve Streatch has been a very active member of his community supporting many community organizations and events such as The Bicentennial Theatre, the Riverside 4-H Club, Lions Clubs of Canada and as well as the Halifax County Exhibition and he is currently a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #147.
Coming from a family that has supported the Conservative movement for five generations Steve was proud to be nominated as the first Conservative Party candidate for the new riding of Sackville-Eastern Shore on April 3, 2004. He has made a commitment to his residents to run on his record of fiscal accountability and greater responsibility to the taxpayer all the while maintaining a balanced approach to the needs and aspirations of those he represents. Steve and his wife Marilyn currently live in Middle Musquodoboit with their five sons, the oldest being 18 and the youngest 5 years old.
