Info | Theresa Rodrigues has been nominated to stand as the Conservative Party of Canada's candidate for the riding of Davenport in the next general election. She was acclaimed at a meeting of local Conservatives last night at the Joseph Piccininni Community Recreation Centre.
"I have been active in this riding for almost 30 years and have heard the voice of the community loud and clear. The message from all Canadians is that we need a change, we need integrity and we need a leader who will bring accountability to Ottawa. People are telling me they have lost faith in the Liberal Government," stated Theresa.
Mrs. Rodrigues will bring her experience as a small business person to Ottawa. Theresa stated, "I know how difficult the high Liberal taxes and excessive red tape have made it for Canadian businesses to succeed. My first priority in government will be to work toward the creation of an economic environment where we can all hope to prosper and make better lives for our families".
Fluent in Portuguese, Rodrigues also has a history of assisting new immigrants settle in Canada. Previously, she had worked as a settlement worker and coordinator of language instruction and other services to immigrants.
When the election is called, Rodrigues expects to face former Liberal Charles Caccia MP who will be running as an independent, New Democrat Rui Pires and Liberal Mario Silva.
Rodrigues is married to Victor Rodrigues. The Rodrigues lived in Toronto's west-end for many years and now currently reside west of the City. Theresa and Victor have five children and six grandchildren.
