| Info | As a Republican candidate, I am Pro-Life, Pro-2nd Amendment and Pro-Tax Reform and a proud Constitutional Conservative! I believe in protecting our individual and civil liberties because that is ultimately what makes America and Iowa such a special place to live.
I grew up in Aurelia, Iowa, and I am a proud graduate of Aurelia High School. My wife Midge is a native of Alta, Iowa, and we have been married for 37 years. We have lived in Northwest Iowa most of our lives, raising our kids here and building our lives.
I have had the great fortune to lead school districts and serve communities in O’Brien, Osceola, Buena Vista and Cherokee county. I care deeply for these communities and the future of Iowa. As a long time resident and native of Northwest Iowa, I share the values and priorities of these communities and I want to be your voice in Des Moines.
Iowa has a long-standing reputation for having a great educational system. I will not stand by and allow agendas that are in opposition to our family and community values, to take root in our schools. We need to ensure that all of our children have access to a world class education that is free from bias and socialist agendas.
Growing our rural economy is key to a strong economy for the state of Iowa as a whole. We need to develop policies that encourage entrepreneurship, and promote high-paying jobs. I will work for tax-reform that encourages entrepreneurship, job growth and allows hardworking Iowans to keep more of their paychecks.
Access to mental health care services is a growing concern across our state, and especially in Northwest Iowa. Wait times for an appointment are often times measured in weeks. When a person needs mental health care services, they are needed today! Recruiting and retaining psychiatrist, psychologists and mental health counselors needs to be a priority in this state. We can and must do better!
I’ve been showing up for Northwest Iowa my entire life and not just when it’s convenient. I’ll continue working hard as your next state senator!
