Info | As a child picked James Fresques crops to help his family. He later became a pharmacist. By 1945, he was chosen to be the first Hispanic president of the Denver City Council. While on the City Council, he successfully introduced a resolution endorsing Negro History Week. In the 1950s, Fresques acted as an assistant to mayors Nicholson and Batterson before being placed in charge of the Denver Housing Authority.
