Info | Paige Miller is vice-chair of the Commission for 2003. She was first elected in November 1987. She was re-elected in 1993, 1997 and 2001. She served as president of the Commission in 1992 and 1997.
Miller, an attorney, first became involved with the Port while serving as president of the Queen Anne Community Council (1981-1984). She represented Queen Anne in negotiations with the Port, which allowed for expansion of Terminal 91 while protecting neighbors of the facility from adverse impacts.
After moving to Seattle in 1978, Miller joined the Seattle law firm of Riddell, Williams, Bullitt and Walkinshaw. A graduate of Brown University, she received her law degree from Yale Law School in 1977.
Miller has served as president, and is currently a trustee, of the Washington Public Ports Association. She presently sits on the boards of PortJOBS, the Trade Development Alliance, the Downtown Seattle Association, the Seattle Chinese Garden Society, the Housing Partnership and the Annie Casey Jobs Initiative. She is also a member of the advisory boards of the Greater Seattle Vietnam Association and the Seattle-Chongqing Sister City Association.
She has previously served on the City of Seattle/King County Economic Development Council, the Puget Sound Regional Council Transportation Policy Board, the Japan America Society, the Puget Sound Shipyards Industrial Jobs Committee, the Puget Sound Air Transportation Committee, World Affairs Council, the Seattle-Surabaya Sister City Association, the Washington State-East Java Association, the Washington State China Relations Council and the Washington State Air Transportation Commission.
Miller works actively to strengthen relationships with the community near Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. She is a member of the Joint Advisory Committee that works with SeaTac city officials towards airport development and other issues of common interest.
Prior to her election to the Port Commission, Miller served Seattle City Council member Jim Street as a legislative analyst.
