InfoReforming a community left in “dire straits” continues to this day a work in progress for the Stevenson family – three generations later – particularly when the outlook for the district is viewed as a bleak portrait of the old South Bronx percolating with crime, drugs and now gang activity due to lack of needed programs and poverty-stricken neighborhoods that form the 79th Assembly District. For this reason only, Stevenson will always remain a household name among parents, seniors and our young people, including civic and religious leaders, synonymous with courage, leadership and hope.

Eric Stevenson follows the great strides and footsteps of the patriarch of his family, namely his father and grandfather, the late District Leader Edward A. Stevenson Jr. and the late Assemblyman Edward A. Stevenson Sr., respectively, who both served the 79th Assembly District with impeccable character, distinction and honorable leadership roughly 50 years ago.

Eric was born and raised in The Bronx and politics his whole life. With his education in labor organizing, he remains an active voice and concerned community activist in the political landscape and evolution of Bronx politics. Eric also plans to use his education in the field of Electronics Systems Technology (EST) and International Business to enlist eager residents, particularly the youth into exciting careers with the billion dollar a year Electronic Security Systems market, including partnering with like-minded governmental entities and Multinational Corporations (MNC) to get jobless residents involved in the very lucrative import and export markets overseas in order to get his district on the road to socioeconomic recovery.

As a Community Coordinator for former Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer, Eric has tirelessly served his district for several years. He also served our diverse neighborhoods as liaison to Community Board No. 3 for Borough President Ferrer as well. His service continued into the administration of former Borough President Aldofo Carrion, where he continued to serve the needs of constituents boroughwide. He currently works for the City Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn, performing diligent legislative research and as a Committee Clerk to the Rules and State and Federal Legislative Committees and others.

Eric Stevenson has a passion for serving people, especially those in the Morrisania community, because of it being the poorest Congressional District in America. After years of hard work, persistence and personal sacrifice, Eric Stevenson was overwhelmingly elected to the 79th Assembly District by residents from different walks of life, fulfilling a lifelong ambition to hold the seat of his late grandfather, Assemblyman Edward A. Stevenson Sr.
