| Info | Ambassador Perkins has served as Ambassador of the United States to the Commonwealth of Australia from (1993-1996), as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, and U.S. Representative in the UN Security Council (1992-1993) and as Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa (1986-1989).
Ambassador Perkins has also served as Director General of the Foreign Service and Director of Personnel, U.S. Department of State, and as Ambassador to the Republic Liberia.
Between 1958 and 1983, Ambassador Perkins served in a variety of diplomatic, military and Foreign Service posts in Liberia, Ghana, Thailand and Taiwan.
Ambassador Perkins holds a BA from the University of Maryland, and Master and Doctorate degrees in Public Administration from the University of Southern California. He also holds honorary degrees from several Colleges and Universities across the country.
