Info | Regina Dunkin is the Community Relations Coordinator for Beloit Health System. She was the former Executive Director of Merrill Community for 18 years. Regina attended Beloit College and has over seventeen years of social service experience. She played a vital role in establishing a new Merrill Community Center, the first children’s program for the Domestic Violence Center, and piloted Community Action’s Fresh Start Program. She was a founding member and President of the Eclipse Charter School for the School District of Beloit.
Regina is a wife, mother of three children and eight grandchildren. Her board affiliations include Family Services of Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois Board, National School Board Association, Nominating Committee of Visit Beloit, Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children of Rock County Advisory Board, Beloit College Vice President’s Committee, Girls Who Rock, Character Counts Leadership Board, Women’s Fund, United Way Blackhawk Region Campaign Cabinet, Beloit Housing Authority Family Self Sufficiency Committee, Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, City of Beloit Alcohol License Committee & Appointment Review Committee, and the Greater Beloit Economic Development Board & Investment Committee. As a community leader, Regina advocates for those who may feel they don’t have a voice.
Regina has been recognized with the School District of Beloit Hero Award, United Way Campaign Coordinator Award, Girl Scouts Volunteer Award, City of Beloit Citizen Award, Janesville School District Martin Luther King Jr. Award, League of Women Voter’s Women in Politics Award, Beloit College Warrior Award, Zonta Minnie Mills-Enking Memorial Award, Wisconsin Association of School Boards Award, Congressional Award from the US House of Representatives & Speaker Paul Ryan, Unsung Hero Award, YWCA Woman of Distinction Award, Big Brothers and Big Sisters Volunteer Award, NAACP Community Award and University of Wisconsin Community Award.
Regina served six years on the Beloit School Board. She is the Vice President of the Beloit City Council and Vice Chair of the Wisconsin State Public Defender Board, being reappointed by Governor Tony Evers on May 2, 2019. Regina was honored with an Official Proclamation from the City of Beloit declaring August 9 as Regina Dunkin Day in 2006. She is proud to represent the citizens of Beloit and the State of Wisconsin.
