InfoJim Dexter was born in Hollywood, CA two months before Pearl Harbor was bombed by the Japanese. He grew up in California, Texas and New York. His higher education includes stints at Tufts University, Monterey Peninsula Institute of Foreign Studies, and Hunter College. Enlisting in the Army, he learned Chinese-Mandarin at the U.S. Army Language School and spent two years on Taiwan.

Before starting his own ad agency in 1988, Jim was the corporate officer in charge of marketing communications for four major financial service companies: Chubb, SouthWestern Life, Bankers National, and Monarch Resources. His work has received the highest honors from his peers.

Dexter served as executive editor for the New York Professional PostScript Users Group (NYPPUG) and founded the New Jersey Electronic Publishing Society (NJ.eps) serving as its first president for two years. Moving to the Beehive State in 1996, he served as a director of the Graphic Arts Association of Utah for two years.

Active in his community, Jim held various leadership posts in several groups, including State Vice President and National Director of the New Jersey Jaycees. He was twice named an "Outstanding Young Man of America" and was honored with a Prudential Community Service Award.

Dexter was elected state-vice chair of the Libertarian Party of Utah in 1995 and participated in the decision to expel a member for grossly violating Libertarian principles. The next year, following the state chair�s resignation, he became state chair. He was re-elected in '97 and '99 In 2000, Jim was elected as an alternate regional representative of the Libertarian National Committee by delegates from eight states at the national convention. He will step down from state chair of the LPUtah on May 12, 2001.
