InfoTim James has a genuine desire to serve the people of Alabama. Tim is 46 years old, and the son of a famous Alabaman, Fob James, Jr, a former two term governor of Alabama. Tim was educated at Baylor Preparatory in Chattanooga, TN and received his degree from Auburn University in Auburn, AL in 1985, majoring in Finance.

Tim James began his professional career in 1986, working in the construction-related business, and achieved success at expanding this business into regional markets. He subsequently worked with his brothers and father, Fob James, Jr. in forming a company called Escambia County Environmental Corporation. Among Tim's achievements in the business world have been owning and operating an asphalt construction business, as well as building and operating an incineration company treating non-hazardous industrial waste. In 1995 Tim sold his asphalt company to Couch Construction Company and that same year sold his other business to Allied Waste, then BFI.

In 1996 Tim James formed the Baldwin County Bridge Company, LLC, with a group of partners and managed all details of the completion of the Foley Beach Express in Orange Beach, AL.

It was in 2002 that Tim made his entry into Alabama politics, running for Governor of Alabama. Tim finished third in the Republican primary that year, garnering 9% of the vote, in a race won by then U.S. Representative Bob Riley. Tim now admits that the race for governor in 2002 was ill-timed. In fact, he said that people in both political parties warned him against running for Governor of Alabama just four years after his father's second term as Governor ended. As Tim has said "He was in the wrong race at the wrong time."

His decision to run for Governor of Alabama in 2010 is made because of his desire to serve the people of his state. Tim James says "I think we are in the right race at the right time." After the 2002 race Tim continued to be politically active, including successfully opposing the $1.2 billion tax plan in 2003 and oin 2004 to a rewrite of Alabama's Constitution. James was among several prominent Republicans who believed that the proposed constitutional amendment went beyond removing outdated language from Alabama's Constitution and was more about raising taxes.

In 2006 Tim James re-entered the development business in Alabama. In 2006 he sold Foley Beach Express to Macquarie, an Australian investment bank.

Tim is married to Angela Whittle James and they are the parents of three children, Fleming, Tim, Jr. and Sarah.

Tim James is preparing for his biggest campaign to date - running for Governor of Alabama in 2010.
