Info | Judge John H. England, Jr. was appointed to the Alabama Supreme Court by Governor Don Siegelman in 1999 and he served as an Associate Justice until 2001. Since that time and currently he is a judge of the Circuit Court of Alabama (Tuscaloosa County). Previously in his career, he was a member of the City Council of Tuscaloosa and he is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Alabama System.

He holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Tuskegee Institute and was among the first African Americans admitted to the UA School of Law, where he earned a law degree in 1974. A former Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, he was elected to two terms on the Tuscaloosa City Council, serving as chairman of the Finance Committee and Community Development Committee. He has held leadership positions in a variety of local and state organizations and is the recipient of numerous awards.
