| Info | Ruby Faye Woolridge has been a figure in Arlington area politics for decades.
By the time she ran as the Democratic choice in the 1994 race for Tarrant County
district clerk, she had already mounted three campaigns for the Arlington school
board. In the years since, Ruby has continued to work as a volunteer, board apÂpointee and community activist. She is the right choice in the Democratic primary for the 6th Congressional District. She will be facing longtime incumbent Rep. Joe Barton in the fall.
She's a graduate of Perkins School of Theology in the Diaconal Ministry Program, at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. After graduating, Ruby began serving as a senior associate pastor at Grace United Methodist Church, in Arlington. She has since moved on to serve as an elder at the Potter's House of Dallas, where has been since 2005.
Holding a Master’s degree in Education for Guidance and Counseling from Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She served as a counselor in both Oklahoma and Texas School Districts for over 30 years. From there, she bolstered her community service much further becoming President of the Norwood Neighborhood Association (2007-present) and is a member of the NAACP, she even recently became a board member for the Parks and Recreation department in Arlington (2015-present). Ruby was a Delegate to District and State Democratic Conventions in 2008 and 2014; was a VIP Attendee to the 2008 Democratic National Convention, and she attended the 2009 and 2013 Presidential Inaugurations.
Ruby is the oldest of four children. She is the mother of two sons and has one beautiful granddaughter. Her oldest son, a disabled bronze star winning Gulf War Army veteran sadly passed last year from complications due to injuries sustained during his military service. Her youngest son owns, CivicSolve LLC,a civic engagement consulting firm, and holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy.
