Info | My Mom always taught me that it is better to serve others than it is to serve yourself. I learned this lesson early through the actions of my parents. My Dad served in both the Vietnam and Gulf Wars and retired from the Air Force after 20 years of honorable service. My Mom was an avid volunteer. During my Dad’s service, she led and was an active member of the NCO Wives’ Club. Later, she volunteered at the local senior citizen center in our hometown. She continued her community service even after she became very ill. Both were hard workers and ensured that my brother and I always had what we needed. I always wanted to be like them.
I continued in my Father’s footsteps and enlisted in the United States Air Force on February 14, 2001 at the age of 19. My first duty station was at Yokota AFB, Japan, a whole world away from where I grew up in Arkansas. After a tour on Active Duty, I transitioned to the Florida Air National Guard in Jacksonville and served for another 4 years.
I’ve never liked being idle. Before joining the Air Force, I was a burger flipper, a receptionist, a college student, and a factory worker packaging canned soda for $6.25 an hour. While in the Guard, I attended the University of North Florida full time and earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Technology. Nine years later, I followed the same drill, earning a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Central Florida while working full time as a defense contractor in Brevard County. I’ve also worked with various organizations during my time in Vero Beach. I coached the Vero Beach Roller Girls, participated as an i9 Volunteer Soccer Coach, and I currently serve as the Communications Chair for the Florida Young Democrats of Indian River County. Currently, I work for a small business in Vero Beach as their Director of IT Enterprise Project Management.
I moved to Vero Beach over 8 years ago when I met my fiancé, Cari. We have a large blended family of 7. Our two oldest teenagers, Kelsey and Alyssa, graduate from high school this year and will be headed off to college in the fall. Our youngest three, Rylee, Kaidin, and Piper, are in middle and elementary school. In their free time, they participate in mixed-martial arts and enjoy going to the beach!
