i'm going to engage in this conversation once and only once.
i speak as a trans person who has been openly trans now for 10 years. what we are seeing, in Florida especially, with the bathroom bills and culturally with trans people writ large being labeled predators and groomers and the incitement of violence and everything in between is absolutely part of a genocide against trans people. there are trans people fleeing states and the country because of the persecution, legal and extralegal, they fear they would face. i have never felt so unsafe as a trans woman.
to say what we are experiencing as a community is not genocide is to spit in our faces and tell us "it's not that bad, stop exaggerating."
there are states where we are barred from receiving necessary medication, from literally pissing in an appropriate public restroom. we are forbidden to discuss our own identity in certain public places.
you tell me what that sounds like.

I'm not agreeing to disagree on an issue of human rights and Life/Death.
If you are unwilling to learn about the issue that's on you. In an age of information, stupidity is a choice.
And there you have it. The extreme left in a nut shell. Agree with me, or you are stupid.
Without acknowledging there could be other solutions, without acknowledging others feelings, without acknowledging there are other stakeholders in the outcomes of your proposed solutions.
The only feelings that count are your feelings. The rest of us are dumb and our views / feelings don't count.

There is severe disproportion with legislation regarding transgender people: it amounts to persecution for the transgender community while having damn near zero effect on everyone else.

I'm not really seeing any solutions being proposed or discussion of the issues or certainly any compromise, just a forced application of political power.
But then, that seems to be the state of all politics in this country these days.

Hey, BrentinCO, just what do you see as the fate of transgender people in your proposed solutions?
Want to see the fate of the 2,500,000 women who saved their lives by using gun when they were about to be sexually assaulted?

Are you suggesting they were all assaulted by trans people?
You misread by message. Over 2.5M+ people who were sexually assaulted (some maybe trans people) were saved by using a gun. When you ban guns how will they defend themselves?
Are you going to allow 2.5M+ be sexually assaulted because you want gun control?

And there you have it. The extreme left in a nut shell. Agree with me, or you are stupid.
I mean, given your response to all this I cannot see it as anything more as you being intentionally dense
Without acknowledging there could be other solutions, without acknowledging others feelings, without acknowledging there are other stakeholders in the outcomes of your proposed solutions.
I distinctly remember hearing these EXACT arguments in when I research the 1860s and 1960s... And not by the people history looks fond of.....
Here is the outcome of my proposed solutions: People being free to live happy lives regardless of their identity
Here is the outcome of what I can only assume are YOUR proposed solutions: Lots of people that are either killed or suicidal because of the reactionary system in place. (I say this as not once did you disagree with any of the downright Fascistic Policies Desantis has put in place)
The only feelings that count are your feelings. The rest of us are dumb and our views / feelings don't count.
I'm not basing this on feelings, I am basing this on facts. All of what I have stated thus far is factual information, based on the people who this affects. Facts don't care about YOUR feelings

You can if you want! Very legit question because since anti-trans bills are considered a genocide then so should gun control laws.

Well, that was a topic switch.
On that: I'm a bit dubious about your statistic, think you're conflating gun control with a gun ban, assuming I'm for a gun ban when I am not and somehow equating sexual assault with death - though I suppose you could be being non-literal there and referring to quality of life.

...while having damn near zero effect on everyone else.
See this is where you are wrong. And the mere fact there is this level of debate on this topic shows that it does have an effect on others. To name a few: women, children, and parents.
Hey, BrentinCO, just what do you see as the fate of transgender people in your proposed solutions?
Just curious, what are some of your proposed solutions?
At least on the bathroom issue, a good start would be acknowledging the feelings matter of other women and children using those bathrooms. I get that some women are comfortable, but please acknowledge that there are also large number of women and children that aren't comfortable with the current arrangement. This alone has contributed to some of the legislation in States.

Obviously, some people think transgender people are icky and are uncomfortable sharing a bathroom with them but since there is no actual safety issue is it proper to use public policy to enforce animus against transgender people?

Sure. Agreed. We won't be able to make the people who think its icky happy.
Still doesn't negate there are young women, children, and adult women who aren't comfortable with sharing a very private space with transgenders who do not have the same biological anatomy.

What about Trans People who have went through hormone treatment? Top and or Bottom Surgery? To the point where they look absolutely nothing like the sex they were assigned at birth?
Thanks to the Trans Bathroom laws, now Caitlyn Jenner cannot enter the woman's bathroom but Buck Angel can. See how comfortable woman and children are now?
Or maybe see how comfortable they are when the male cop kicks them out for not looking feminine enough, (as I have previously shown just happened)
Anti-trans bills≠Transphobic laws.

transphobic: having or showing a dislike of or strong prejudice against transgender people

Still doesn't negate there are young women, children, and adult women who aren't comfortable with sharing a very private space with transgenders who do not have the same biological anatomy.
It's amazing how this all just retreads the anti-gay arguments from a few decades ago that most people have gotten over.
Some people aren't comfortable with sharing public restrooms with gays or lesbians of their same sex. More probably would be uncomfortable if there were laws passed to force them to use opposite sex restrooms.
Transgender people have been using public restrooms of their preferred gender for forever if they are passable. There wasn't an issue because people didn't know.
If you actually think about the issue, people are going to be more upset if fully transitioned passable transgendered people try and obey the law and use the bathroom of the sex they absolutely do not look like. There are 100% butch looking trans men and 100% feminine looking trans women with all the correct outside parts. Woman will actually freak out a lot more with a fully passable macho, hairy, bearded trans man entering their bathroom than a passable, feminine trans woman. When even a grope test won't work (ick), will women and cops be carrying full genetic sequencers to tell (oh -and there are problems there as well).
The big scare story about cis-gender hetero men dressing up as women to enter women's bathrooms and sexually assault women is pretty shallow and ridiculous. There are plenty of sexual assaults by cis-hetero men in women's bathrooms without them wearing dresses. If they are willing to break a serious felony sexual assault law, why would a misdemeanor law being in the wrong bathroom be the thing that stops them?
And society seriously oversexualizes gays and trans people. The vast majority just want to pee, not perv on people in the bathroom.
As far as young children, most don't really care until they get older unless they have been highly conditioned by their parents. Moms take their little sons into the girls bathroom and dads their little daughters into the boys bathrooms on a regular basis until they are old enough to go themselves.
The legislation is really trying to gin up issues that don't really exist rather than solve anything. Or to help jumpstart someone's Presidential Primary campaign.
