Named Outstanding Legislator and Legislator of the Year in 1995 by the National Republican Legislators Association, Robert Brawley served in the NC House of Repersentatives from 1981 through 1998 and was a member of the House Insurance Committee for 16 years.
Education, training and work experience make Robert uniquely qualified to serve the people of North Carolina. As Commissioner of Insurance, Robert will address the problems that the incumbent has ignored.
Robert was born and grew up in Mooresville, North Carolina in rural Iredell County, where he and his wife, Mary, still reside.
Robert earned his BS in Engineering Operations from NC State University and holds the Charter Life Underwriter (CLU) designation in insurance from the American College. He also is a certified instructor in continuing education for the insurance industry.
A retired Lt. Col. in the North Carolina National Guard, serving 23 years as a helicopter pilot, Robert was elected to the North Carolina Military Academy Hall of Fame for his service to North Carolina.
Robert is one of the founders of Brawley Construction Company and he has 32 years experience in the insurance business.
Robert Brawley is a member of the North Carolina Farm Bureau and is a Master Mason. He is Former Rotarian and has served in numerous civic and community organizations. Robert is past president of the Iredell Association of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
The Brawley's have five children and seven grandchildren and reside at 1020 Oak Ridge Farm Highway in Mooresville. They are members of Triplett United Methodist Church. Robert is a certified Lay speaker in the Methodist Church and has taught Sunday School for 32 years.
