InfoI'm Thomas Hall, Buckhurst Hill resident and married father of two young children.

I work with technology start-ups in London.

I'm worried by the false dichotomy between left and right wing politics, and see enormous harm arising from the continued pursuit of the flawed economic and tax policy of the last 30 years. We see the results across the country in collapsing homeownership rates in the young, destroyed pension schemes, falling international competitiveness and economic stagnation.

The Young People's Party stands to permanently fix the housing crisis, and return the benefits of economic growth to the workers that are responsible for it. This stands in contrast to today, where any growth drives still higher house prices and a widening of the gap between the rich and poor. Our sole aim is to change the tax system so that it works for everyone in it as it used to, supplying a resilient stable and fairly levied government income for the provision of good public services, and encouraging production by removing the disincentives we currently apply through taxes on income and trade.

The sad truth is we have had the answers to these problems for a long time. Formerly undeveloped countries such as Singapore and Hong Kong that have minimized taxes on production, instead raising government revenue from the increases in land prices have witnessed extraordinary progress, and the standards of living have in a single generation overtaken the developed world.

Our tax policies would see house prices reduce significantly, while giving most families thousands more pounds a year in disposable income- giving people the opportunity to escape renting and build up financial security.

The Young People's Party did not campaign in the EU referendum, having members on both sides of the debate. We believe the result must be respected however, and if ever in a position to influence the outcome, would be happy to support membership of the EEA as being out of the EU, but retaining trading relationships with our European neighbours.
