InfoLydia Martinez is serving her second term in the Connecticut state legislature serving the 128th District of Bridgeport. She currently serves on the Appropriations, Select Committee on Aging, and Human Services Committees.

Lydia is a native of Puerto Rico later moving to the United States. She received a B.S. in Education from University of Bridgeport; M.S. in Bilingual Education from University of Bridgeport; Intermediate Administration Certification from University of Connecticut, and is presently a candidate for Ph.D. degree at University of Connecticut in Storrs. She is a Teacher on Special Assignment and liaison for schools, students, parents, and community in Bridgeport Public Schools.

Her community involvement includes; member of Bridgeport Town Committee, a Councilwoman with the City of Bridgeport, which she has been for the past 8 years, and a P.A.C. member at Luis Moniz Marin Elementary School, Bridgeport Community Empowerment Task Force Board Member, Lower East Side Development Corporation Board Member, GBAPP Board Member and Founder, Mi Casa Advisory Committee Board Member, Justice of the Peace, Chair of Hispanic Census 2000, and Board Member of Grow Bridgeport Funds.

She has received numerous awards; Connecticut General Assembly 1998; The Bridgeport Blue Fish Baseball Club 1998; Bridgeport Bilingual Education Students and P.A.C. 1999; Barnum School P.A.C. 1990; Child Guidance 1998; Mi Casa 1999; ABCD Community Service Award 1998.

Lydia is a proud mother of five adult children – four daughters and one son.
